• Top off the water daily. Flowers drink more than you think!
• Keep the water clean. Change it every 2–3 days to prevent bacteria.
• Give the stems a trim. Every time you change the water, snip a little off the ends (about ¼ inch) at a 45° angle. This helps them absorb water better.
• Keep them away from heat and direct sun. That sunny windowsill may be beautiful, but your flowers will fade faster there.

 

If Your Flowers Arrive Wrapped

 

Time to play florist! Here’s how to prepare your bouquet:

 

• Unwrap gently and remove any lower leaves that would sit below the water line.
• Trim the stems at a 45° angle using sharp scissors or a floral knife.
• Place them in a clean vase filled with room-temperature water.
• Change the water daily and re-trim the stems every 2–3 days. 

 

Pro tip: Always use a clean vase! Even a little residue from old flowers can shorten the life of your new blooms.

• Avoid direct sunlight, heaters, and AC vents
• Keep them away from ripening fruits (they release ethylene gas, which speeds up wilting!)
